An Ode To The Human Spirit

If you could have the arms of Hercules,
Legs as swift as the wind,
If you could lift a shoulder high above the rim,
Have the kick of a dolphin,
The reflexes of a cat,
If you could have all these, you would have the body, you would have the tools,
But you would not have greatness, until you understand that the strongest muscle, is the Heart.
To me, that is the soul of the Olympic Games.
- Andrea Bocelli for Olympics 2004.

These words of Andrea Bocelli, the Italian singer, song-writer and producer were seen and heard by me a long time back, when I saw the clip on CNN. The ad is by Saatchi and Saatchi and you can view it by clicking one of the links I have given below.(Links work on Internet Explorer only as per my testing.)

To me, this summarizes everything there is about life. It gives me hope, inspiration, joy and above all, a sense of confidence that the human spirit is supreme. It tells me that no matter where we come from, its the spirit inside a person that will determine her/his destiny. I want to write more, but sometimes its best to leave things unsaid...

ummm..aahhh..weeelll..ehhh i think u ve said it all!!
i agree, thats what separates the winners from the rest!
it also gives a sense of reassurance that a person's true power lies beyond the reach of our extremely materialistic world!
Doesnt matter how big life's crises turn out..when your spirit is strong,it can conquer the world, right!??!that sounds a bit corny..but im sure u get what im tryin to say :-)

If I could speak in any language in heaven or on earth but didn't love others, I would only be making meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I had the gift of prophecy and if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew everything about everything, but didn't love others, what good would I be?

And if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, without love I would be no good to anybody.

If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn't love others, I would be of no value whatsoever.

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
